Basic information
- Name: fac16 (written in lower case), at fac16.com.

- What it does: helps businesses decide what to work on next.
- Its assessment: Growth Score, a structured assessment of how a business is equipped to win and keep customers.
- What a company receives: a score from 0 to 100, capability reported separately from momentum, the stage where the problem shows up, the root cause underneath it, and the first actions.
- Format: thirty-eight questions (32 on capability, 6 on momentum), taking about eight minutes. Current method version: v1.5.
- Cost to companies: companies aren’t charged for taking Growth Score or receiving their result.
- Published by: Closing Foundry Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company no. 14629519. ICO registration: 00015846952.
- Founder: Charles Talbot, who developed Growth Score and is responsible for its method, specification and version history.

How it works
- 1. Assess your business. Answer structured questions about how you attract, win and keep customers or users.
- 2. Understand where to focus. See where progress may be getting stuck and which underlying weaknesses need attention. The result shows the stage where the problem shows up (Interest, Intent, Commitment or Value) and the root cause underneath it (Product, People, Process or Repeatability).
- 3. Improve and reassess. Choose what to work on and where you need support. After at least 90 days, the company can take the measure again, and the report shows movement between the two measurements.
- Checking a result. Every result carries a short reference. Entering it confirms whether the result is real, which method version produced it, when it was taken and whether it is still current, and its evidence level. It returns no score, no company name and no answers. See Checking a result.
Who it’s for
- Founders and leadership teams: review their commercial strengths and gaps, consider what their answers suggest, and decide where to focus.
- Corporate venture: see what commercial help a start-up needs, beyond its technical progress.
- Accelerators: show sponsors which companies moved during the programme, not just the activity.
- Banks: see which customers are building commercial capability before the account shows it.
- Universities: measure each team at intake and exit, and use it in your next funding bid.
- Investors: screen inbound against your own criteria and record the reason for each decision.
- Public bodies: show what changed for the companies you fund, not just how many you supported.
Relationship with Closing Foundry
- Closing Foundry also provides sales and revenue consultancy. Its services may overlap with areas highlighted by Growth Score, so the commercial arrangements are kept separate.
- Scores follow the fixed rules for the stated method version. Commercial interests don’t alter those rules.
- Results identify areas to examine and categories of support, without selecting a named provider.
- Organisations licensing Growth Score choose and record their own support arrangements. Consultancy is contracted separately and isn’t a condition of a Growth Score licence.
Boundaries
- It doesn’t predict growth. It measures selected commercial capabilities and current momentum that may support growth.
- It isn’t an investment-readiness, eligibility or funding score, and it isn’t a credit or risk signal.
- The data is self-reported. Results should be read alongside customer evidence and business results.
- It doesn’t rank companies against one another, and it doesn’t claim that an intervention caused a change in score.
- There is no peer benchmark yet. See Limits and Version history.
- The basis, limits and version history are public. The detailed specification, including questions, scales and arithmetic, is available to approved organisations through method access.
